Install an IPP Everywhere™ Printer within CUPS

There are a couple of IPP Everywhere™ printers on the market, which are very easy to install on your Linux system with CUPS.

Sorry, the Screenshots are all in German language, my fault. But you will get it.

Prerequisites

At first CUPS must be installed on your Linux system. I CUPS isn't installed on your system, just do it now:

🌐 Install CUPS on Manjaro
🌐 Install CUPS on Debian

1. Open the CUPS Webinterface in your Browser

Once CUPS is running, just open the following URL in your browser:

http://localhost:631/

Ignore all warnings of your browser.

Opened CUPS Webinterface

2. Add an IPP Printer

Add a new IPP printer to your system, like so:

Add a Printer

3. Type in the IPP URL

E.g. for Brother printers a working URL would look like so:

ipp://your_printers_ip_adress:631/ipp/port1

Alternatively you can use a hostname if your LAN's router provides hostnames.

Hack in the URL

4. Give your new Printer a Name

At least fill out the printer's name and optionally the description and the place:

Name your Printer

5. Choose your Printer Model

Just choose "Generic", because IPP is generic anyway.

Choose Generic as Printer Model

Then choose "Generic" as model or printer driver:

Choose IPP Everywhere

Now you are done. Additionally some printer settings can be choosen, you can change this later anyway.
